Distribution Manager

Function of role:

Managing the distribution team to ensure timely fulfilment of orders and store replenishment. Ensure strong stock management & product care. Receiving in and overseeing all deliveries

Head Office, Dudley Street, Luton

Working hours:

40 hours across 8am – 6pm Monday – Friday (as necessitates the role)

Education requirements:

GCSE English and Maths

Strong IT skills

Good level of communication – both verbal and written

Experience required:

Min of 5 years’ working in a warehouse environment

Experience of Stock control management/stock systems

Managing & training teams – (currently a team of 5)

Managing warehouse with turnover in excess of £8 million

Full clean driving licence

• Good understanding of all warehousing, goods in and distribution

• Attention to detail – highly efficient stock and space management skills

• Experience in people management including knowledge of recruiting, training and basic disciplinaries and appraisal processes

• Efficient and effective time management to ensure deadlines are met

• Good planning and organisational skills to ensure efficient processing of deliveries

• Good communication skills

• Ability to prioritise workload

• Strong motivation & delegation skills

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT TO BE CONFINED TO:

General

• Plan and manage incoming and outgoing deliveries

• Ensure everything is completed to relevant timescales

• Ensure procedures are followed when packing deliveries and handling products

• Liaise with team members on wholesale deliveries

• Ensure all appropriate safety regulations are followed both with regards to personal safety and safety of inventory

• Check and verify despatch and collection records; handling questions or concerns of shipping shortages or overages and addressing any problems with relevant people and teams

• Arrange transport for delivery to Customers

• Manage all deliveries

• Ensure all the relevant paperwork is completed for goods in and despatch

• To support other parts of the business as and when required

• Cover Van driver duties during periods of absence as required

• General warehouse duties as required

Team management

• Train and supervise the team, whilst allocating work appropriately

• Motivate the team members to ensure all team targets are met

• Manage effectively holidays etc for team members

• Monitor time in and out for distribution staff and complete time sheets if required

• Conduct regular reviews and appraisals with all Distribution team members

• Support any recruitment for new team members

Stock Control

• Manage all movement of stock and transfers to ensure complete accuracy

• Investigate any discrepancies

• Carry out stock adjustments where necessary

• Stocktake - prepare stock areas and count all stock – investigate and create amendments etc
